The Alexander Spartans scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They breezed by Wellston on the road to the tune of 63-34. The win was just what Alexander needed coming off of a 58-33 defeat in their prior contest.
Alexander got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kaylee Hudnall out in front who almost dropped a triple-double on 12 points, nine rebounds, and 11 assists. Those nine rebounds set a new season-high mark for Hudnall. Lily Ryder was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Alexander's win ended a 11-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-3. As for Wellston, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-2.
Alexander will take on Vinton County at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Vinton County is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak. As for Wellston, they will head out on the road to face off against River Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
