Basketball Recap: Make It 12 in a Row for Northeastern

Northeastern won against Victory College Prep last Saturday with 77 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Thursday. The Northeastern Knights claimed a resounding 77-48 victory over the Cambridge City Lincoln Golden Eagles. The Knights have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 22 points or more this season.

Noah Payne continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 8 for 15 on his way to 21 points in addition to five assists and three steals. He has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sam White, who went 6 of 9 on his way to 12 points and seven boards.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Northeastern was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Cambridge City Lincoln lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Dustin Lunsford, who posted eight points in addition to six assists and five boards. That's the most assists Lunsford has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Dustin Irwin, who had nine points.

The win keeps them at an undefeated 12-0. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.8 points per game. As for Cambridge City Lincoln, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-3.

Northeastern wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 49-41 victory against Centerville on the 11th. As for Cambridge City Lincoln, they will square off against Tri at 7:30 p.m. on January 17th. Tri will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Cambridge City Lincoln surely won't give up without a fight.
