Summit Charter Collegiate Academy has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Orosi Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though Summit Charter Collegiate Academy has not done well against the Grizzlies recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Summit Charter Collegiate Academy walked away with a 46-35 win over the Grizzlies.
Meanwhile, Orosi waltzed into their match on Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Wonderful College Prep Academy 74-26 on the road.
Orosi's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jeremiah Ortiz, who went 6 for 8 from beyond the arc en route to 18 points and 0 assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Cristian Montejano, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Summit Charter Collegiate Academy is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season. As for Orosi, their victory bumped their record up to 14-10.
Summit Charter Collegiate Academy beat the Cardinals 57-47 when the teams last played two weeks ago. The rematch might be a little tougher for Summit Charter Collegiate Academy since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
