Sierra Linda's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Amairany Meza, who scored six points along with ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Shania Holmes, who scored 14 points along with three steals.
Fairfax's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Melanie Romero led the charge by scoring 28 points along with five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Romero has scored all season. Ajana Kenyatta was another key contributor, scoring 24 points along with eight steals and five rebounds.
Sierra Linda has not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-15 record this season. As for Fairfax, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sierra Linda will take on Washington at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Fairfax won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Metro Tech at 5:30 p.m. on January 18th. Metro Tech has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 5.
