Basketball Recap: Ralston Valley Falls Short Against Ranked Pine Creek

On Thursday, Ralston Valley faced Pine Creek in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Ralston Valley Mustangs took a 47-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pine Creek Eagles. The Mustangs have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Ralston Valley still got an impressive performance from Santana Sabus, who posted 18 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Sabus is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last four games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Sammi Madden, who had three points and eight rebounds.

Brooklyn Stewart went supernova for Pine Creek, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 19 rebounds. Alli Dreessen was another key player, putting up ten points and eight rebounds.

Ralston Valley's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Pine Creek, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.

Ralston Valley wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 61-46 victory against Fort Collins on the 7th. As for Pine Creek, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 60-52 win against Chaparral on the 7th.
