Prescott had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They blew past the Nekoosa Papermakers 9-1 on Tuesday. Considering the Cardinals have won 14 games by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Rory Zuehlsdorf spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up seven Ks.
At the plate, Kelsey Sterud was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Izzy Thoen, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Prescott hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Nekoosa struck out seven times.
The win (which was Prescott's seventh in a row) raised their record to 20-7. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.9 runs over those games. As for Nekoosa, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-11.
As of now, neither Prescott nor the Papermakers have any future games scheduled.
