Even though the Cherokee Trail Cougars scored an imposing 56 points on Friday, the Overland Trailblazers still came out on top. Overland secured a 61-56 W over the Cougars. That's another feather in the cap for Overland, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Overland to victory, but perhaps none more so than Siraaj Ali, who scored ten points along with six assists and five rebounds. Aidan Perez was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.
Cherokee Trail lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Nathan Baack, who scored 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Steinbrinck, who scored eight points.
Overland has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season. As for Cherokee Trail, they dropped their record down to 7-12 with that loss, which was their third straight at home.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Overland will face off against the Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Colorado (Arapahoe is ranked 36th, while the Trailblazers are ranked 30th). As for Cherokee Trail, they will head out on the road to challenge the Bruins at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
