The Brother Rice Warriors will head out on the road to square off against the Huron Chiefs at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Brother Rice sitting on four straight victories and Huron on three.
The home team had come away the winner the last five times Brother Rice and University of Detroit Jesuit had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Warriors were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over the Cubs on Wednesday.
Blake Ilitch looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Broder Katke was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Tristan Turner, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Brother Rice always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .528. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as University of Detroit Jesuit only posted an OBP of .385.
Meanwhile, Huron got the win against Grosse Ile on Wednesday by a conclusive 11-1. The result was nothing new for the Chiefs, who have now won 11 matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Gavin O'Hara looked comfortable as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched.
At the plate, Myles Grace was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Dayton Miller was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Huron pushed their record up to 22-4 with the win, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Brother Rice, their record now sits at 17-10-1.
Everything went Brother Rice's way against Huron when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Brother Rice made off with a 9-3 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
