The Decatur Red Raiders will head out on the road to face off against the Lawrence County Red Devils at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Alabama (Decatur is ranked 196th, while Lawrence County is ranked 220th).
Decatur pushed their score all the way to 58 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Austin 62-58.
Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 25-25 at halftime, Lawrence County was not quite Hatton's equal in the second half on Tuesday. Lawrence County took a 43-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hatton. Lawrence County has not had much luck with Hatton recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Despite their loss, Lawrence County saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Kylie Graham, who scored 11 points along with 8 rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Graham continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Jaala Hawkins, who scored 7 points along with 8 rebounds and 5 assists.
Decatur now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Lawrence County, they have fallen quite a ways from their 16-8 record last season and are now at 2-5.
Everything came up roses for Decatur against Lawrence County in their previous meeting back in November as the team secured a 60-31 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Decatur since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
