With a playoff win on the line, Skyline rose to the challenge on Friday. They walked away with a 21-14 victory over the Pine View Panthers. The win was nothing new for the Eagles as they're now sitting on three straight.
Skyline's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Xavier Cocci, who threw for 164 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also rushed for 83 yards on only 11 carries. 98 of Cocci's passing yards were hauled in by Alex Brown, who also brought in two receiving touchdowns.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Skyline was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 218 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 170 rushing yards in three consecutive matchups.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Skyline's defense and their three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: David Campbell, Jackson Treanor, and Kyle Johnson, who each picked up one sack apiece. Skyline's record now sits at 9-3. As for Pine View, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-4.
