The Gordon-Rushville Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the Morrill Lions at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Gordon-Rushville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Saturday.
Gordon-Rushville put the finishing touches on their eighth blowout victory of the season. They blew past Chadron 46-21. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Gordon-Rushville.
Mckinley Grover and Haley Johnson were among the main playmakers for Gordon-Rushville as the former dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds and the latter scored 21 points along with five steals. Johnson has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. Skye Tausan was another key contributor, scoring two points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Morrill came up short against Lingle-Fort Laramie on Tuesday and fell 55-42. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Morrill in their matchups with Lingle-Fort Laramie: they've now lost three in a row.
Gordon-Rushville's win bumped their record up to 11-4. As for Morrill, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-5.
Everything came up roses for Gordon-Rushville against Morrill when the teams last played back in February of 2022 as the team secured a 54-16 victory. With Gordon-Rushville ahead 36-7 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
