The Union County Patriots will head out on the road to face off against the Blue River Valley Vikings at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Union County will be strutting in after a victory while Blue River Valley will be coming in after a defeat.
Even though Union County has not done well against Winchester Community recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Union County had just enough and edged Winchester Community out 38-35.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 58 points the game before, Blue River Valley were a bit more limited in their match on Saturday. They were beaten by Eastbrook 61-24. While losing is never fun, Blue River Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 212th, while Eastbrook is ranked 57th).
The losing side was boosted by Charlee Gibson, who scored ten points. She scored a full 41.7% of Blue River Valley's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Union County is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 4-7 record this season. As for Blue River Valley, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-4.
Union County lost to Blue River Valley on the road by a decisive 49-35 margin in their previous matchup back in December of 2022. Thankfully for Union County, Maci Chamberlin (who scored 23 points along with seven steals and five assists) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
