The Central Lions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They were beaten by Calhoun 88-51. While losing is never fun, Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 428th, while Calhoun is ranked 209th).
Despite the loss, Central still got an impressive performance from Iyanis Wallace, who scored 24 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Dekijuan Mccall, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds.
Central bumped their record down to 1-12 with that defeat, which was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Calhoun, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Central will take on Ellwood Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ellwood Christian has now lost 15 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 9. As for Calhoun, they will play host again and welcome Autaugaville, where tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Autaugaville is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
