The La Plata Warriors's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. The New Year welcomed they with a 55-24 whooping from Great Mills. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points La Plata has scored all season.
When it comes to explaining why La Plata lost, one person who can't be blamed is Cameron Harrold. Despite the final result, he scored three points. Harrold is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last three games he's played.
It was another big night for DeAndre Dorsey, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten steals for Great Mills. Those ten steals set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Vontez Culpepper, who scored 11 points along with nine rebounds.
La Plata has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season. As for Great Mills, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. La Plata will take on Chesapeake Math & IT Academy South at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Chesapeake Math & IT Academy South focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Thursday. As for Great Mills, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Laurel at 6:30 p.m. Laurel will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Maryland Rankings (they are ranked 142nd, while Great Mills is ranked 42nd).
