Sabino (Tucson, Ariz.) overcame
Sahuaro (Tucson, Ariz.), 27-14.
After taking the lead on a touchdown catch by
Matt Bushman in the second quarter, the Sabercats were up 14-7 at the half.
Sabino grew its lead to 13 points entering the fourth quarter. The Sabercats scored two times in the third, including once on an
Emilio Araiza touchdown pass to Bushman.
Last season's game between the teams resulted in a 52-3 win for Sabino.
The win was a nice bounce back for the Sabercats, who lost to Salpointe Catholic last week, 49-7. The loss comes after Sahuaro defeated Tucson High Magnet School 31-28 last week.
Sahuaro (1-1) will play a non-conference game against Vista Grande next week, while Sabino (1-1) will take on Desert Edge also in a non-conference game.
