The Providence Pioneers will be playing at home against the Henryville Hornets at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Providence has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 64-45 bruising from Jeffersonville on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Henryville's 17-7 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They took a 44-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of Clarksville on Saturday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Henryville has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Henryville had strong showings from Aydan Head, who scored 15 points along with nine rebounds and two blocks, and Landon Dobbs, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and two steals. Head is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season.
Providence's loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-3. As for Henryville, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season.
Providence strolled past Henryville when the teams last played back in January of 2023 by a score of 48-33. Does Providence have another victory up their sleeve, or will Henryville turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
