Hollis-Brookline has gone 9-1 against ConVal recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Cavaliers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cougars at 4:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
ConVal will square off against a team with plenty of momentum: Hollis-Brookline extended their winning streak to six on Wednesday. The Cavaliers put the hurt on Pelham with a sharp 12-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Cavaliers, who have now won three matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Ian Sinclair looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Matthew Bergin, who went 2-for-5 with four RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Tyler Gryniewicz was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Hollis-Brookline was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .406. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .393 or higher in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for ConVal, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Lebanon on Friday as they made off with a 10-4 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Cougars have posted against the Raiders since May 2, 2016.
Isaac Clough made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits (and not a single walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Henry Hartwell was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Gus Hatmaker, who earned two runs and three stolen bases.
ConVal's victory bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Hollis-Brookline, their win bumped their record up to 5-0.
ConVal's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Hollis-Brookline hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .402. It's a different story for ConVal, though, as they've only averaged .252. Will they be able to contain Hollis-Brookline's hitters?
