Softball Recap: Jamestown Wins Going Away Against Denbigh

Jamestown lost to Denbigh back in March of 2022, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Monday. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 16-0 margin over the Patriots. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won four matches by 15 runs or more so far this season.

Grace Hughes was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

In other batting news, Zoe Mayes was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Olivia Deaver, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with four runs, one double, and one RBI.

Jamestown's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-4. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.0 runs on average over those games. As for Denbigh, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-5.

Coming up, Jamestown will head out on the road to challenge Grafton at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Eagles are facing the Clippers at the right time seeing as the Clippers are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Denbigh, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Woodside at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
