Harrisburg is on a eight-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while North Allegheny is on a eight-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Harrisburg Cougars will take on the North Allegheny Tigers at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Harrisburg walked away with it. They secured a 34-28 W over the Blue Streaks on Friday.
The match pitted two dominant signal callers against one another in Shawn Lee and Hayden Johnson. Lee had a great game and rushed for 120 yards and a touchdown. Meanwhile, Johnson was balling out in the loss, punching in two rushing scores, while also throwing for 158 yards and two touchdowns.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Manheim Township to a paltry 238 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Harrisburg's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid the passer out six times before it was all said and done. The heavy lifting was done by Micah Chambers and Ryan Epps who racked up four sacks between them.
Meanwhile, North Allegheny can now show off 11 landslide victories after their most recent match on Friday. They took their match at home with ease, bagging a 41-7 victory over McDowell.
Logan Kushner went supernova for North Allegheny, rushing for 89 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries, while also throwing for 174 yards and three touchdowns on only nine passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Khiryn Boyd, who gained 91 total yards and two touchdowns.
Their wins bumped Harrisburg to 12-1 and Manheim Township to 12-1.
