The Green Level Gators''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They were just a hair shy of victory and fell 16-15 to Apex Friendship. While losing is never fun, Green Level can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 258th, while Apex Friendship is ranked 84th).
When it comes to explaining why Green Level lost, one person who can't be blamed is Gavin Jones. Despite the final result, he rushed for 96 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries.
Green Level's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 2-8. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 9-1 Holly Springs and 6-4 Middle Creek (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 67.5% over those games). As for Apex Friendship, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-2.
Green Level does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Apex Friendship will be playing at home against Southeast Raleigh at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
