Bison has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. Having just played yesterday, they will head out on the road to face off against the Kadoka Kougars at 5:00 p.m. on January 26th. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Bison suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Thursday. They had to suffer through a rough 74-34 loss at the hands of Timber Lake. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Bison has suffered against Timber Lake since January 20, 2020.
Rylee Veal put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 14 points along with eight rebounds. That was a full 41.2% of Bison's points, marking the tenth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyle Stadler, who scored seven points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Kadoka's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They fell just short of Timber Lake by a score of 39-37. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Kadoka has scored all season.
Despite their defeat, Kadoka saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Garrett Hermann, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Hermann continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Gus Stout was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
Kadoka struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Bison dropped their record down to 2-8 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Kadoka, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season.
Friday's game is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Bison have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 26.1 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Kadoka struggles in that department as they've been averaging 30.8 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Bison lost to Kadoka on the road by a decisive 66-48 margin in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. Can Bison avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
