The Massac County Patriots will square off against the Anna-Jonesboro Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Massac County gave up the first runs last Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top against Vienna by a score of 6-3. The game was the first time the Patriots have beaten the Eagles on their field since May 15, 2021.

Addyson Weaver spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on ten hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Hannah Edwards was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Baumgart, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.
Meanwhile, Anna-Jonesboro put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over Murphysboro. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by six runs or more this season.
Anna-Jonesboro got a massive performance out of Jayci Needling, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. What's more, Needling posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in May of 2024. Kansas Craig was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.
Anna-Jonesboro hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four strikeouts batters in 18 consecutive games dating back to last season.
Massac County's victory bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Anna-Jonesboro, their win was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-0.
Massac County suffered a grim 17-7 defeat to Anna-Jonesboro in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Patriots avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
