Chase Taylor spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up seven Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, SouthWest Edgecombe let Damion Hinton and Jaelyn McLean run wild. Hinton went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run, while McLean got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. McLean has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Webb, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Meanwhile, Eastern Wayne fell victim to North Lenoir and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 28-0 to the Hawks.
Eastern Wayne's loss dropped their record down to 0-12. As for SouthWest Edgecombe, their victory bumped their record up to 14-2.
Eastern Wayne's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: SouthWest Edgecombe has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .449. It's a different story for Eastern Wayne, though, as they've only averaged .321. Will they be able to contain SouthWest Edgecombe's hitters?
