In what's become a running theme this season, East New York Family Academy gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. They breezed by Madison at home to the tune of 82-16. Given East New York Family Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 73rd, while Madison is ranked 378th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
East New York Family Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Arianna Mercado, who scored 23 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Mercado hasn't dropped below two steals for eight straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Eugene, who scored 16 points along with seven steals and six assists.
East New York Family Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. As for Madison, their loss was their eighth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 3-9.
East New York Family Academy will square off against Midwood at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Madison will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on South Shore at 4:30 p.m. on January 31st.
