California is 9-1 against Carondelet since May of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Grizzlies will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cougars at 4:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with California sitting on six straight wins and Carondelet on four.
California is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Dublin on Tuesday as they made off with an 18-7 victory. The result was nothing new for the Grizzlies, who have now won ten contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Audrey Cotton looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jayda Crosby was a standout: she got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Hailey King was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and two doubles.
California was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .545. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in 11 consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Carondelet never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Foothill with a sharp 10-0 win. Carondelet's victory was all the more impressive since the Falcons were averaging only 3.85 runs allowed on the season.
Carondelet also got a great performance from Maia Scholtens as she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Anna Gustafson was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Myleiana Lopez, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Carondelet pushed their record up to 12-11 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for California, their win bumped their record up to 17-6.
Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. California hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .375. However, it's not like Carondelet struggles in that department as they've averaged .318. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went California's way against Carondelet in their previous meeting back in April, as California made off with a 10-3 victory. Will the Grizzlies repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
