The Kimball Jaguars will challenge the Lodi Flames at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Kimball sitting on eight straight victories and Lodi on three.
Last Thursday, Kimball beat West 5-2. That's two games straight that the Jaguars have won by exactly three runs.
Briana Quintero looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those zero hits allowed gave her a new career-low.
At the plate, Saige Dodds was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Lodi made easy work of St. Mary's on Monday and carried off a 9-3 win. Considering the Flames have won five contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Ashlyn Jubrey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up 16 Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Abby Schweigerdt, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. What's more, she posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in May of 2024. Maddie Ehlers also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Lodi was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .346 or higher in three consecutive matchups.
Lodi pushed their record up to 10-4 with the victory, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Kimball, their record is now 9-3.
Kimball's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's game. Kimball has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.5 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Lodi, though, as they've been averaging only 0.7 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Kimball continue to outrun the ball?
