The Blake Yellow Jackets entered their tilt with the Plant Panthers with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Blake walked away with a 56-49 win over Plant on Friday. That's another feather in the cap for Blake, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Blake found their leader in underclassman Joe Philon, who almost dropped a triple-double on 12 points, 10 rebounds, and 9 blocks. The matchup was Philon's third in a row with at least ten points. Kentrell Martin was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 steals.
Blake's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Plant, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-1.
Blake will take on The Villages Charter at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Villages Charter will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 186th, while Blake is ranked 19th). As for Plant, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Leto at 6:30 p.m. Hopefully Leto focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven on Wednesday.
