The Arcadia Titans will head out to square off against the Mica Mountain Thunderbolts at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Arcadia not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 17th (when they won 13-3). They never let Marcos de Niza get on the board and left with a 9-0 win. Nine seems to be a good number for the Titans as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Not much got past Cael Donahue, who gave up just four hits and racked up eight Ks to keep Marcos de Niza off the board. Donahue has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Brody Panzer was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Grant Erickson, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.
Mica Mountain came out on top against Sahuaro on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive ten-run fifth inning. The Thunderbolts put the hurt on the Cougars with a sharp 14-4 win. The result was nothing new for the Thunderbolts, who have now won seven contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Maddux Rocha looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.
On the hitting side, Mica Mountain got a big performance out of Elijah Higuera, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Raydon Rocha, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run.
Mica Mountain always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .611. They are 7-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Mica Mountain is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-11-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for Arcadia, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-16.
