Two dominant guards in Aujaylen Barron and Phil Nelson are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Harrison Central Red Rebels will square off against the Ridgeland Titans at 11:30 a.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Ocean Springs typically has all the answers at home, but on Friday Harrison Central proved too difficult a challenge. They managed a 73-69 victory over the Greyhounds. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Harrison Central.
Barron was his usual excellent self, scoring 34 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Nehemiah Barnett, who scored eight points along with five assists and three steals.
Meanwhile, Ridgeland faced Vicksburg in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Ridgeland came out on top against Vicksburg by a score of 61-50 on Friday.
It was another big night for Nelson, who scored 22 points along with six rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Khameron Snow, who scored nine points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Harrison Central has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a massive bump to their 13-7 record this season. As for Ridgeland, their win bumped their record up to 14-7.
