Baseball Game Preview: Highland Rams vs. Bath County Chargers

The Highland Rams will take on the Bath County Chargers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Highland is coming into the match hot, having won their last seven games.

Two weeks ago, Highland got the win against Bath County by a conclusive 16-6. Considering the Rams have won six games by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Zach Armstrong made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Highland's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 4-5 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Eli Moore was incredible, firing off two home runs, six RBI, and one double while going 3-for-5. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Patton Hull, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with five runs, two stolen bases, and one double.

Highland pushed their record up to 9-5 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for Bath County, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-10.

Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Highland hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .368. However, it's not like Bath County struggles in that department as they've averaged .317. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
