After a string of five wins, the Lapel Bulldogs's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell 57-44 to Pendleton Heights. Lapel was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Pendleton Heights apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played two weeks ago.
When it comes to explaining why Lapel lost, one person who can't be blamed is Laniah Wills. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten rebounds. Madelyn Poynter was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five assists and four steals.
Kaycie Warfel continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Pendleton Heights, scoring 25 points along with six rebounds and six steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which Warfel has scored at least a third of Pendleton Heights' points. The team also got some help courtesy of Adah Hupfer, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
Lapel's defeat ended a 11-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 16-4. As for Pendleton Heights, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lapel will take on Muncie Central at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Muncie Central has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 30. As for Pendleton Heights, they will be playing at home against Connersville at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Connersville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 last Friday.
