The Pavilion Golden Gophers came tearing into Friday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 62-51 win over Caledonia-Mumford. That's another feather in the cap for Pavilion, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Defeat or not, Caledonia-Mumford got some senior leadership from Donny Peet and Braeden Fonte. Peet scored 18 points along with five rebounds and two steals, while Fonte. scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Nathan Doll, who scored eight points along with 12 rebounds.
Pavilion pushed their record up to 6-8 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.6 points per game. As for Caledonia-Mumford, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-15.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pavilion's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Le Roy at 7:00 p.m. on February 12th. Le Roypresents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Pavilion in New York (Le Roy is ranked 154th, while Pavilion is ranked 625th). As for Caledonia-Mumford, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Keshequa at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Caledonia-Mumford focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Friday.
