They came out on top against El Toro by a score of 82-75. Given Dana Hills' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 38th, while El Toro is ranked 555th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Dana Hills was led to victory by Logan Scodeller and Collin Haugh. Scodeller scored 23 points along with nine assists and two steals, while Haugh scored 40 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Scodeller has scored all season. Nikolis Grguric was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with ten rebounds and three steals.
Despite the loss, El Toro had strong showings from Christian Jimenez, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds, and Lydo Smith, who scored 21 points. Jimenez has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Kaleb Bass, who scored eight points along with six rebounds.
Dana Hills' win was their 11th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-4. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 78.1 points per game. As for El Toro, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-15.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dana Hills will challenge Aliso Niguel at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for El Toro, they will head out on the road to square off against Mission Viejo at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mission Viejo is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 55 points per game.
