The Ontario Tigers will venture away from home to face off against the Weiser Wolverines at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ontario has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since March 18.
Ontario came up short against Umatilla on Saturday, falling 13-2.
Ontario saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Declann Webster, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Tristan Petty also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Meanwhile, while Weiser put up some runs on Friday, the same can't be said for New Plymouth. The Wolverines came out on top against the Pilgrims by a score of 4-0. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor in this series.
Brody Bittick tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Weiser is 4-2 when he allows at most one walk, but 1-4 otherwise.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Willy Jepsen, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Eric Ramirez, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Weiser's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-6. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. As for Ontario, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.
Ontario couldn't quite finish off Weiser in their previous matchup back in March of 2023 and fell 8-6. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
