The Sterlington Panthers and the St. James Wildcats squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Sterlington Panthers had to settle for second. They fell 28-17 to the Wildcats. Sterlington's defeat signaled the end of their 11-game winning streak.
Despite the loss, Sterlington still got an impressive performance from Trammell Colvin, who rushed for 135 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries. Colvin was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 58 yards.
Brayden Williams was his usual excellent self, rushing for 84 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries, while also throwing for 155 yards and a touchdown while completing 71.4% of his passes for St. James. The team also got some help courtesy of Jakias Villanueva, who picked up 86 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Sterlington's defeat dropped their record down to 11-2. As for St. James, they have yet to lose a matchup on the road this season, leaving them with a 11-2 record.
Sterlington does not have any more games scheduled as of now. St. James is on the road again on Friday and play against Union Parish at 3:30 p.m. on December 8th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Louisiana (Union Parish is ranked 57th, while St. James is ranked 36th).
