Elko has gone a perfect 10-0 against Truckee recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Indians will look to defend their home field against the Wolverines at 11:00 a.m. Elko is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.6 runs per game this season.
Elko took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They never let South Tahoe get on the board and left with a 12-0 win. The Indians haven't had any issues with the Vikings recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.
The team relied heavily on Taylor Hunton, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and five RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2025. Adalynn Carr was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Elko was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .450. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 19 runs the game before, Truckee was a bit more limited in their matchup on Friday. They came up short against Spring Creek, falling 17-2. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Truckee saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jessie Borzello, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI. Josie De La Torre also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Truckee has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season. As for Elko, their win bumped their record up to 7-4.
Saturday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Elko hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .433. However, it's not like Truckee struggles in that department as they've averaged .403. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Elko's way against Truckee in their previous meeting back in March of 2025, as Elko made off with a 17-2 victory. Will the Indians repeat their success, or do the Wolverines have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
