The Oaks Christian Lions had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32.8 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They had just enough and edged St. Bonaventure out 13-10. Given Oaks Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 19th, while St. Bonaventure is ranked 63rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Nate Bennett threw for 155 yards and a touchdown. Chase Farrell was his top target, picking up 47 receiving yards and a touchdown. On the ground, Mckenzie Parks rushed for 61 yards.
Koen Glover and DJ Doss certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Glover gained 95 total yards and a touchdown, while Doss picked up 48 receiving yards.
Oaks Christian's victory was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 8-2. As for St. Bonaventure, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-3.
Oaks Christian will play host again and welcome Chaparral, where Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The last three games Chaparral has played have been within five points, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for St. Bonaventure, they will head out on the road to face off against Etiwanda at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
