The Lowndes Vikings's game last Saturday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They walked away with a 57-47 win over Valdosta. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Lowndes also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2023.
Leading Lowndes to victory were Kaci Demps and Kayla Jackson. Demps scored 19 points along with two steals, while Jackson dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds. Jackson hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games. Kimora Wade was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with nine rebounds and two blocks.
Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Nadia Gardner, who scored 17 points along with five steals. That was a full 36.2% of Valdosta's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Chasity Degale, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 15 rebounds.
Valdosta struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Lowndes' win bumped their record up to 10-2. As for Valdosta, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 14-6.
Lowndes' road trip will continue as they head out to face Baldwin at 10:00 a.m. on January 15th. Baldwin will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak. As for Valdosta, Valdosta and Colquitt County will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
