The Bordentown Scotties pushed their score all the way to 59 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 67-59 to Burlington Township. Bordentown has not had much luck with Burlington Township recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Bordentown's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Andrew DeCosta, who scored 16 points along with two blocks. DeCosta has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ari Miller, who scored 11 points.
It was another big night for Aaron Ferguson, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 14 rebounds for Burlington Township. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ferguson has scored all season. Irving Singletary was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with six rebounds.
Bordentown's loss dropped their record down to 11-10. As for Burlington Township, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bordentown will take on Florence Township Memorial at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. Bordentown is coming into the matchup with three straight losses at home, meaning Florence Township Memorial will have to defend against a team hungry for a win. As for Burlington Township, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Pemberton at 6:30 p.m. on February 7th. Hopefully Burlington Township is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Pemberton in New Jersey (Burlington Township is ranked 85th, while Pemberton is ranked 263rd).
