Basketball Recap: Winters Mill Drops Season-High Score on Springdale Prep

Winters Mill scored the most points they've had this season on Saturday, but it wasn't enough. They took a 73-65 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Springdale Prep Lions. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 185th, while the Lions are ranked 17th).

Several Falcons players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tommy Hinkhaus, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 12 points and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben King, who posted nine points and three steals.

Even though they lost, Winters Mill was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Winters Mill's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Springdale Prep, their victory bumped their record up to 13-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Winters Mill will head out to challenge Century at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Winters Mill is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53 points per game this season. As for Springdale Prep, they will venture away from home to take on Friends' Central at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Friends' Central also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 58.9 points per game.
