Softball Recap: Easton Area's Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Six

Easton Area had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.2 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Monday. They put the hurt on the East Stroudsburg North Timberwolves with a sharp 8-1 win. That's more bragging rights for the Rovers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Audrey Rinda was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Thalia Burns was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Anna Jones was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Easton Area kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive contests.

Easton Area pushed their record up to 8-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 7.2 runs. As for East Stroudsburg North, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Easton Area is set to square off against their familiar foe Northampton at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, East Stroudsburg North will challenge rival Whitehall at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
