Troup hasn't had much luck against Tatum recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. Troup will welcome Tatum at 7:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Troup 3.4, Tatum 2.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
On Saturday, Troup was able to grind out a solid victory over Athens, taking the game 6-2.
The team relied heavily on Hayden Huml, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. That stolen base was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Caden Graves, who scored a run and stole a base.
Meanwhile, Tatum came tearing into Saturday's match with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Raiders 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Eagles have posted against the Raiders since April 14, 2023.
Logen Tovar tossed a big game, pitching six innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits.
At the plate, Cooper Whiteus was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Grant Adcock, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Tatum kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive games.
Tatum pushed their record up to 14-4 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Troup, their win bumped their record up to 13-6.
Troup suffered a grim 12-5 defeat to Tatum in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will Troup have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
