Leading Sparta Academy to victory were Mary Trainham Brock and Kaitlyn Johnson. Brock scored ten points along with five assists and five rebounds, while Johnson scored 13 points along with nine rebounds and four steals. Johnson is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Jamie Ellissa Deason, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds.
Monroe Academy bumped their record down to 0-4 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Sparta Academy, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-2.
Monroe Academy will be playing in front of their home fans against Morgan Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Sparta Academy is on the road again on Tuesday and play against Lowndes Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 2, 2024. Lowndes Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 272nd, while Sparta Academy is ranked 93rd).
