The Roy Royals will head out on the road to face off against the Bountiful RedHawks at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. Roy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Utah Rankings (they are ranked 90th, while Bountiful is ranked seventh).
On Wednesday, things could have been worse for Roy, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 50-35 loss to Woods Cross. Roy has not had much luck with Woods Cross recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Despite the defeat, Roy had strong showings from Analeise Maharaj, who scored 12 points along with two steals, and Jerzee Hart, who scored nine points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Maharaj has scored all season.
Meanwhile, Bountiful had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 28.2 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Wednesday. They came out on top against Clearfield by a score of 56-47.
It was another big night for Taylor Harvey, who scored 21 points. Another player making a difference was Adelaide Stevenson, who scored 12 points.
Roy has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season. As for Bountiful, their victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-3.
Roy took a serious blow against Bountiful in their previous meeting back in November of 2022, falling 54-12. Can Roy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
