The Galva Wildcats will head out on the road to square off against the Stark County Rebels at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Galva has struggled recently with four defeats in a row, while Stark County will arrive with four straight victories.
Galva suffered their biggest loss since November 24, 2023 on Friday. They were the victim of a rough 67-44 loss at the hands of Annawan. While losing is never fun, Galva can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 654th, while Annawan is ranked 263rd).
Despite the loss, Galva saw an underclassman step up: JP Sloan scored 16 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Sloan has scored all season. Blake Stahl was another key contributor, scoring six points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Stark County scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They were the clear victor by a 77-51 margin over Wethersfield. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Stark County has posted since December 7, 2023.
Galva has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season. As for Stark County, their win bumped their record up to 11-8.
Galva might still be hurting after the 62-39 loss they got from Stark County in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Can Galva avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
