Basketball Recap: Rosedale Christian Academy Comes Up Short

Rosedale Christian Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were one points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 64-63 heartbreaker at the hands of the New Hope Academy National Tigers. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Saturday (57), the Rosedale Panthers still had to take the loss.

Several Rosedale Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Nazir Anderson, who went 7 for 14 on his way to 19 points and four steals. That's the most steals Anderson has posted since back in November of 2024. Keyon Williams was another key player, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Even though they lost, Rosedale Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as New Hope Academy National only pulled down three offensive rebounds.

New Hope Academy National can attribute much of their success to Isrial Braxton, who went 6 of 9 on his way to 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of John Artis, who posted nine points.

Rosedale Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 3-16. As for New Hope Academy National, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 13-11 record this season.

Rosedale Christian Academy and New Hope Academy National could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Maryland Rankings. Rosedale Christian Academy (ranked 200th) will meet Springdale Prep (ranked 21st) at 6:00 p.m. on January 21st. Meanwhile, New Hope Academy National (ranked 86th) will meet DC International (ranked 24th) at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
