The Elkhorn Elks will square off against the Jefferson Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Elkhorn is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 15 runs on Saturday, they were much more limited against Badger on Monday. They fell 5-2 to the Badgers.
Elkhorn saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brynn Hagan, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, Jefferson never let their opponents score on Monday. They blew past Whitewater 13-0. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won 12 games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Ashlyn Enke made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Aeryn Messmann was incredible, firing off two home runs, six RBI, and one double while going 3-for-3. What's more, she posted two runs, the most she's had since back in April. Another player making a difference was Hildie Dempsey, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Jefferson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .519. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Whitewater only posted an OBP of .062.
The win made it two in a row for Jefferson and bumps their season record up to 20-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for Elkhorn, their loss dropped their record down to 17-9.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Elkhorn hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .329. However, it's not like Jefferson struggles in that department as they've averaged .335. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Elkhorn might still be hurting after the 10-0 defeat they got from Jefferson in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Will the Elks have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
