The Lake Creek Lions entered their tilt with the Rudder Rangers with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Lake Creek came out on top against Rudder by a score of 60-53 on Tuesday. Given Lake Creek's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 188th, while Rudder is ranked 620th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lake Creek's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Aedan Lewis led the charge by dropping a double-double on 23 points and 16 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jett Sutton, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Several Rangers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Randon Cooks, who scored 18 points. Kayden Holmes was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with six rebounds.
Lake Creek pushed their record up to 24-8 with that victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.4 points per game. As for Rudder, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 14-17.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lake Creek will take on College Station at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Lake Creek's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 12 games. As for Rudder, they will head out on the road to take on Montgomery at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Rudder focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Tuesday.
