The Vela Sabercats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 36 points or more this season. They breezed by Rowe on the road to the tune of 70-34. Winning may never get old, but Vela sure is getting used to it with their 12th in a row.
Vela was led to victory by Gg Betancourt and Janai Coleman. Betancourt scored 20 points along with three steals, while Coleman dropped a double-double on 23 points and 14 rebounds. The matchup was Coleman's 12th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Tovar, who scored nine points along with ten rebounds.
Vela pushed their record up to 19-3 with that win, which was their 18th straight on the road dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 34.17 points. As for Rowe, their loss dropped their record down to 12-9.
Vela will be home for the holidays to greet Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Rowe, they will head out on the road to face off against Sharyland at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Sharyland will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1205th, while Rowe is ranked 445th).
