The North Stokes Vikings are taking a road trip to challenge the South Stokes Sauras at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. North Stokes knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past three games -- so hopefully South Stokes likes a good challenge.
On Wednesday, North Stokes made easy work of East Wilkes and carried off an 11-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won ten matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Evan Woods was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Austin Moorefield and Michael Frye did most of the damage at the plate: Moorefield scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2, while Frye scored a run while going 3-for-3. What's more, Moorefield posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March. Another player making a difference was Cash Dalton, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
North Stokes always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between South Stokes and North Stokes, and North Stokes kept the tradition alive. The Sauras lost 17-5 to the Vikings on Tuesday.
South Stokes saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ryan Duggins, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
North Stokes is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for South Stokes, their loss dropped their record down to 8-10.
Everything went North Stokes' way against South Stokes in their previous matchup on Tuesday, as North Stokes made off with a 17-5 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vikings since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
